Ali Rıza Kanaçborn 1989

Ali Rıza Kanaç (born 1989 in Ereğli, Konya) studied painting at Selçuk University in Konya and spent a year as a scholarship student with Claudio Pieroni at the Accademia Albertina delle Belle Arti in Turin. Solo exhibitions in Turin, Konya and Ankara, most recently "I Have Never Seen a Bison" at Artsürem (2019).

The bison is at the centre of his painting: a motif from cave painting that Kanaç knows only from photographs and translates, through colour and texture, into something between figure and abstraction.
